We've all been there. Nigerian oil money or dead relative who left you a pile of gold. Whatever the scam is we think they are stupid and easy to spot and what kind of person would ever fall for this sort of junk. Well, the problem is that sometimes that story hits home and we want to believe it. The ever prevalent domain appraisal scam is a good example.
Ok, I wake up, do my morning rounds on the various forums I participate at and come across this gold.
" Is there actually money to be made in selling domains?

8 Signs your domain might suck
1. You have to ask what it could be used for and words like 'minisite' and 'directory' come up often
2. Someone emailed you offering 5 figures if you buy an appraisal and you did
3. You think using another company's trademark is ok and they won't bother you in the .info extension
4. You are worried about the renewal fee
5. Some other guy owns the .com version
6. You use the word 'premium' on every sales thread for domains registered in past week/month/year
7. You still get no offers on said domains
I have a heard a lot lately about ICANN unanimously voting in favor or relaxing top level domain rules and had a few people come to me and ask 'how does that affect what you do?' The short answer is, it won't; at least not for a long time and here is why:
Intro
So you've heard about the dot com bubble and how people made millions of dollars hardly lifting a finger? Perhaps you want a piece of that pie. I am here to tell you those days are dead, over, long gone. The market, players and money have all changed. The cost of registering a domain name have gone down significantly but the gems are long gone. Even the mediocre names all seem to be taken. So where does that leave someone new to the market and how should they behave today?
